Description
Did you know:
- Pepperberry, also known as mountain pepper, is a shrub native to Tasmania and along the southern coast of Australia from Victoria to New South Wales[1].
- Despite being used for thousands of years by First Nations Australians as a medicine (for sore gums and infections) and a flavour enhancer[2], I couldn’t find a single reference to a First Nations name for this spice on the internet.
- Both the berries (which are fruity and peppery) and the leaves (peppery with a hint of cinnamon) can be eaten[3].
