Did you know:
- Many pre-Colombian central American groups used cacao in a drink. It was thickened with corn and tasted very bitter. When explorers brought cacao back to Europe, they sweetened it and it became a popular drink. It was only later that it was turned into a solid block.
- Cacao was used as currency in pre-Colombian central American groups[1].
- Cacao can really only be grown in humid climates within 25 degrees of the equator[2].
