Did you know:
- In maple season (October-April) in snow-bound Vermont and Quebec, locals gather at ‘sugar shacks’ or ‘cabane à sucre’ to celebrate the season and eat a feast (which features many maple products). They also make maple candy on the snow and have sleigh rides.
- Maple syrup is the sap of the sugar maple, red maple or black maple trees. One way farmers harvest the sap is by stringing plastic hoses from taps in the trees which connect so that the sap can run downhill to the collection point.
